It is not everyday you are approached by the Royal Collection Trust to help design a new range of luxury soaps inspired by Buckingham Palace. These decadent fragrances are truly majestic, and we were inspired to create a brand which would reflect all that opulence and aspiration. We first were lucky enough to go for a private tour of the palace & the gift shops where the soaps would be sold. We spoke to the soapmaker who created the fragrances to understand the story and exclusive ingredients behind each one - all independently handcrafted in London.
Once we had fully immersed ourselves in the fragrances, the places which inspired them and the people who made them, we went to work. Having seen the current offering in the gift shops, we knew there was space to really elevate the experience. Inspired by the artwork within the royal collection, and the modern artisanal soapmakers, we created an illustration style which combined intricate delicate botanical drawings with bold poppy colours.
We knew we had to reinforce the exclusivity of these soaps so we used a traditional typography style and, the cherry on top, a gold stamp with the royal crest.
The result is something which truly elevated the palace’s souvenir offering and created a destination within each shop. Distinctly royal but modern enough to compete with any other luxury soap brands, it shines as a jewel in our crown
