The Zizzi retail range design was tired & flat, getting lost in the busy frozen food category. We all knew & loved the restaurants, so we were curious to see if we could bring back some of that magic into the pack design to help stand-out and recognition. We got to work by first visiting one of their iconic restaurants. Straight away, we found textures, colours and energy which were all missing on pack. We also got to see their food in all its glory in the perfect environment.
It was clear we needed to bring the Zizzi personality and style & warmth of its restaurants into the pack design. With a very extensive product list (23) and a super tight deadline, we had to act quickly and effectively. We created a new photography style which would bring in the ambience of the restaurant. We supercharged the colour palettes and enhanced the messaging to better explain the vision of the menu - “italian with a lowercase i” - skillfully made classics you know and love, each with a little twist.
Although a simple update in principal, the results are impactful. More food appeal, more energy, more Zizzi. The Zizzi brand is much more recognisable as its restaurant counterpart, the food is our hero and navigation & standout has improved. Great design made simple.
